Next week sees the first big clash in my now double sporting life. I'm a great advocate of Non-League Day, pro-actively encouraging football fans to go along and support their local non-league side on the weekend when there is no top flight football due to international matches - Last year saw the crowd at The Meadow boosted as Chesham United entertained Truro City. Next weekend is 2014 Non-League Day, Chesham United play host to Bideford from Devon, but I'll be at...Twickenham.
I used to enjoy reading back over my Chesham United Travels in the early 1990's and I hoped others did too. The discovery of the blog means I have no excuses for not doing it again...The only difference is, as time has evolved, my weekend sport watching and passion is being shared with rugby, and in particular Saracens. In Supporters We Trust
Many a time in recent months I have compared my relationship with Chesham United to a marriage that is on the rocks. We still very much love each other; but we're not getting on that well at the moment. As a result I'm making a conscious effort to try and go back to doing the things we used to do together, when we first fell in love. I won't lie, I'm guilty of allowing a third party into the relationship to complicate matters as well...can the Trust save things?

Time for a Rebuild
Must start blogging again...must start blogging again...
On my 40th birthday I was sipping champagne and nibbling strawberries in a hot tub on the rooftop of a luxurious hotel looking out over the Barcelona skyline...I started thinking about Chesham United Travels of old, a weekly commentary on life as a Chesham United supporter, and thought - I'm going to do that again.
I did it for 6 months from the 30th November 2012 up until the end of May 2013, almost daily, writing down my thoughts...
...I now have a 140 page Word document, nearly 85,000 words, that I don't really know what to do with, other than look back on in disbelief and think...Do we never learn?

Was it all worth it?
First published in the Frome programme...Once the water recedes we will be into the home straight towards the end of the season when you find out if all the hard work has been worth it.
